Boone, Blowing Rock Attractions
While on your Boone NC Vacation, there are an abundance of
attractions within a 30 mile radius. You will never have a dull
moment with so many attractions in the near vicinity. See the
descriptions below to plan your dream Boone vacation.
Tweetsie Railroad
With attractions ranging from Thomas the Tank Engine to the Deer
Park, Tweetsie has something for all ages. The historic Number 12
Train offers rides to all park-goers daily through the mountainous
terrain and is an enjoyable event for children and adults alike.
For
the kids, A Day out with Thomas is a favored event, tying the
historic mountain railroad culture with a popular children’s
character. Suspend your reality and travel back to a time where
cowboys, Indians, and outlaws roam wild, and choose which side you
want to join!
Tweetsie isn’t just focused on children though, there is something
for the thrill-seeker in your family, too. Fabulous rides, such as
the brand new Free Fall and Tornado offer fast and furious wind
speeds, not for the faint of heart! Additionally, adults can take
advantage of the many shopping establishments on site. There are
souvenirs for anyone who wants something to commemorate the trip.
All of the dining areas and performances at Tweetsie Railroad are
Wild West themed to give you that backcountry feel. Each day draws
to a close with a whole-cast performance in the Palace Place Saloon.
What a perfect way to end the perfect day at Tweetsie!

Mystery Hill
Mystery Hill is a local Boone attraction that defies the laws of
gravity! The Mystery House is filled with a strange gravitational
pull that takes normal elements of physics and distorts them much to
the consternation and delight of its visitors. Many interactive
activities are available, making this an ideal vacation attraction
for all ages. Can you figure out the secrets behind Mystery Hill’s
Mystery House?
But the Mystery House isn’t the only attraction; the Heritage and
Artifact Museums are also educational opportunities for visitors
looking to learn of a rich Appalachian past. The Blue Ridge
Mountains were home to Native Americans and settlers from many
nations. As their cultures came together, the artifacts from their
daily lives have been collected, and many make their home here at
Mystery Hill.

Grandfather Mountain
US 221 & Blue Ridge Parkway
Linville NC 28646
800-468-7325
One of North Carolina’s most famous ridges is Grandfather Mountain,
located only minutes from Boone, NC. Grandfather Mountain is much
more than a mountain; it is a wildlife preserve, a haven for
naturalists, and a hiking lover’s paradise. Hiking trails range from
gentle in-park paths to challenging multi-mile, backcountry hikes.
There is something there for everyone.
For those less interested in hiking, the Mile-High Swinging Bridge
attracts thousands of visitors each year. The bridge crosses the gap
between two peaks at the top of the “grandfather” and has been
rebuilt with galvanized steel in recent years. You will be thrilled
by the views and the sheer exuberance of literally walking on air,
high above the rest of the world.
The newest attraction to Grandfather Mountain is the Wildlife
Habitat enclosures, where visitors can observe local animals in
their natural habitat – cougars, bald eagles, and black bears – oh
my! Even river otters are viewable from both above and below the
water. For an experience like none other, make Grandfather Mountain
a part of your Boone NC Vacation.

Linville Caverns
19929 US Hwy 221 North
Marion, NC
800-419-0540
If you’ve never experienced Linville Caverns, you are truly missing
out. The privately owned caves are open to the public most days for
exploration. Limestone deposits have created the perfect summer
attraction, with temperatures holding steady at 52 degrees, escape
the heat and take a spelunking tour! Families and groups are
welcome, and tours leave periodically throughout the day. Don’t miss
your chance to see this natural wonder, right in Western North
Carolina’s back yard!
